Surprisingly to some people, I actually don’t like writing about myself.
Apparently though, I’m supposed to. I guess I’ll have a go and see what appears in the next few paragraphs.
Well we’re now here at those next few paragraphs (or paragraph) and still not a lot has happened…why don’t I start by telling you what I am:
“I’m a Geek!”
Mostly anyway. I’m also a Web & Graphic Designer, but I’m not sure if that gets filed under geek by todays standard definitions, so I’ll separate them and make myself feel better.
I freelance as a Web Designer/Developer to help fund my family and my technology addiction. This is also subsidised by my employment with CMI (The Chartered Management Institute) as Web & Graphic Designer.
Freelancing allows me to better explore my creative side and gives me greater freedom over the designs I create and implement as 9 times out of 10, the client does not have any kind of brand guideline and that allows me to help them shape their brand and to begin the process of creating a brand guideline to help them going forward which is something I greatly enjoy.
I also love mobile! Mobile Web, Mobile Apps. You name it, I love it. This love is greatly funded nowadays by WindowsPhone as it’s such an inspirational platform and as such I’ve also started to delve into the world of mobile app development (for WindowsPhone of course), so this site will over time begin to bear the fruits of that new passion.
I’m a firm believer that Designers can be Developers and vice versa. Although they tend to have different mindsets, there are certain qualities that are the same and for me, a person can be creative and analytical in mind at the same time all it needs is for the individual to not be closed minded (I know so many people who have convinced themselves that they’re not creative).
I think I’ll leave it there for now and come back to add more if I feel like it.
